The Koozie covers are designed to keep your wet newspaper shaping pad from coming in direct contact with hot glass. The working material is made of woven graphite fibers, and they are sewn together with Kevlar thread. They are sized to cover a standard glassmaker's newspaper pad for use in the hot glass studio. The opposite side is made from various fabric swatches - so yours may differ from the image(s) shown.
Because the hot glass never actually touches the newspaper, there is no smoke or ash generated while papering. After a day of work, the paper inside usually shows no sign of heat or burning. You may not realise what you are missing until you work a full day without smoke or ash in your face!
These pads are not perfect for all situations. They excel at working thick, hot, and large scale. It is the perfect tool to blow out a vessel, assemble enclamo rings, or work the liip of a thick bowl. The covers are perfect for situations where your regular paper is sticking to the glass, leaving ash marks, or billowing smoke in your face! It is also great for working with raw colour on the exterior of pieces, as it can minimise reduction effects.
